Madam Thelma is a native of Oakland, California. While growing up in Oakland, California she was surrounded with perfume. Her mother, cousins and aunts were all "perfumistas" that knew the latest trends in perfume and makeup. Perfume was a necessity for a woman. Her Grandma Addy Hall, a creole lady from Shreveport, Louisiana handed down the tradition of Louisiana Creole perfumes to family members, and is from an exclusive line of perfumers in New Orleans.
She often enjoyed Summer vacations in the multi-cultural regions of Galt and Sacramento, California. This laid the foundation for her fluency in the German language. She relocated to Louisiana following the Loma Prieta Earthquake (San Francisco Earthquake) of 1989, and was captivated with the beauty of the Cane River region. She decided to make it her home. Although now retired she still enjoys creating fragrances for friends and family. Her daughter, Dominga is the present owner of The Design House of Madam Thelma.
